Running Star

September 2019

Beth a Yr 8 pupil at Ian Ramsey was one of the stand out runners at the recent Great North City Games Tees Valley Schools Sprints Event on Stockton High Street. Racing in front of thousands of people she won the A final.

One ex pupil, Michael, was watching the event was so impressed by Beth’s performance he contacted Mr Janes to say: ” As a keen runner, and the only person from Stockton to have completed all thirty nine Great North Runs, I attended the recent Great North City Games. Whilst watching the inter schools heats, on the Friday morning, I was impressed with your student, Beth’s, performance, and was delighted when she won the final on the Saturday afternoon. I do hope she keeps up her athletics career, and goes on to represent Great Britain, and England in future events, replicating the achievements of Alison Curbishley, the international track and field athlete, who also attended Ian Ramsey.”

Beth was also chosen to be an ambassador for the games. Well done Beth!
