Media Studies

We realise that many pupils choose GCSE Media Studies for its relevance to their lives and for the opportunities it provides for exploring contemporary issues through the use of different media in creative and practical ways. Pupils will develop their understanding of changing social perceptions of representation through different media forms allowing them to demonstrate skills of enquiry, critical thinking, decision making and analysis.

 

DEEP Curriculum Overview

As a GCSE option subjects, pupils will DEEPEN their knowledge and understanding of theoretical framework of media, contexts of media and their influence on media products and processes. This will allow pupils to analyse products, make judgements and draw conclusions before applying their knowledge and understanding to their owner media product to communicate meaning. Skills developed within Media Studies allow pupils to DEEPEN the transferable skills that support learning across a range of subjects.
