The tutor/student relationship is extremely important to us.  Form tutors ensure that your child is happy and safe at school.  The role of the form tutor is central in caring for students.  Form tutors at Ian Ramsey Church of England Academy act as a critical friend, supporting their students emotionally and academically, solving any concerns or issues students might have.  Alongside this, the form tutor encourages involvement, commitment and high standards of work and behaviour.

For your information, in addition to the above, tutor time consists of:

  • The register being taken, during morning registration.
  • Tutor worship, tutor group discussions surrounding the theme of the week.
  • Equipment checks, including monitoring and intervening in the effective use of the student planner;
  • Key notices and distribution of letters;
  • The monitoring of attendance, punctuality and behaviour;
  • Uniform checks (please see ‘uniform’ for full details).
